Creoles of Color History
During the early 1900s, many Louisiana creoles moved to Texas after the great Mississippi flood. They typically migrated to rural areas of Jefferson, Liberty and Harris counties. Among them were Sam GOUDEAU and his family. He was born on September 1, 1877 in GODEAU, Louisiana to Felix GODEAU and Rosa BUSH , both born as free people of color (not born a slave prior to the emancipation of all slaves). He died on May 6, 1941, in Crosby, Texas. He was married on February 11, 1902, to Marie Odelia TH
