"I love this place. I have eaten here for years. BEST egg rolls in the city....however, I ordered 11.24.25 and got the usual, General Tao's, egg rolls, rangoon, etc. We always order a large extra tub of Gen Tao's sauce for dipping. This time, the rice you get with the combo was TERRIBLE, it didn't even look like rice, it was weird. The sauce wasn't spicy or sweet as it normally is, it was acidic and smelled like vinegar. That meal cost us upwards of $60 with everything we ordered and we could barely eat it. I don't understand bc despite what everyone else says, I honestly love this place, but something's happened. I'm leery of ordering again. PLEASE CK.....bring your normal home!!"

"Recently remodeled, brightened up, cleaned up and upgraded with the addition of sushi, seafood and seaweed salad. China City Buffet looks great and they are busier than ever!\n\nLike all the other buffets, go when it's busy. The sweet spot for the freshest food is lunch from 12:00 to 2:00, and dinner, look at 5:30 - 7:30.\n\nThe quick and easy is that this is the Southland area's only Chinese buffet. They are pretty decent in both quality and range of food options. I will tell you that for the money and my personal preference, lunch rules. You'll get your money's worth, especially at lunch where you can eat for about $13 bucks.\n\nMy Thoughts about some of their food:\n\nSoups and Apps:\n\nHot and Sour Soup (A+) Excellent! This stands shoulder to shoulder with most any other restaurants.\n\nEgg Drop Soup (A+) A rich and hearty broth! Again, their soups are really exceptional.\n\nCrab Rangoon (B+) Slightly sweet pockets of warm cream cheese in crispy wonton. Not much crab, but that crisp and umami are yum.\n\nMains:\n\nGarlic Bean Sprouts: (A+) A lunch only item. Crispy, flavorful and very healthy. Try them!\n\nGarlic Bok Choy: (A+) Another lunch only item. Absolutely delicious and a healthy part of your lunch.\n\nPepper Chicken: (A-) Crispy and peppery with a hint of sweetness. Try adding this to your Hot And Sour Soup or Lo Mein.\n\nGeneral Tsos (B) It's as good as many full service restaurants, when it's freshly made.\n\nPeanut Butter Chicken (B) Peanut buttery savoryness and breaded dark meat chicken go well together\n\nChicken with Broccoli (B) Crisp broccoli and tender sliced chicken. Excellent!\n\nChicken and Mushrooms (B) I honestly use this as more of a topping for their noodles dishes or just add to their soups.\n\nVegetable Lo Mein (B) Add some chicken, seafood or bean sprouts to make it your own.\n\nLemon Pepper Chicken Wings (B) Do you like AYCE wings? Go for it! Don't forget that there's a variety of sauces at the salad bar to vary up the flavor.\n\nTeriyaki Chicken Skewers (B) Really good when they're fresh. Again, make use of their teriyaki sauce at the salad bar!\n\nSingapore Noodles (B) Add some Chicken and Mushrooms on top. Mix, enjoy and thank me later. Another idea is to top with a ladle of soup.\n\nSeafood Delight (B-) Shrimp, Calamari and Krab in a nice buttery sauce.\n\nThat's about it folks. Just remember to hit them up during peak times to get the freshest foods.\n\n** If you've read to the end, thank you! Your reward? I'll let you in on a little secret. They also have a punch card that's available, but you have to ask for it. The deal? Buy 10 meals, get a lunch for FREE.\n\n5 stars. A great Chinese buffet."
